The Arauco Headquarters in Santiago, Chile, represents a pioneering approach to sustainable corporate architecture in South America. The design celebrates the company's core business in forestry products while demonstrating innovative uses of timber in high-rise construction. The building's form is inspired by the natural growth patterns of trees, with a structural system that optimizes both material efficiency and spatial flexibility.
The facade features a sophisticated timber diagrid system that provides both structural support and solar shading, while creating a distinctive visual identity that reflects Arauco's commitment to sustainable forestry. The building's envelope incorporates advanced environmental control systems that respond to Santiago's climate, maximizing natural ventilation and daylight while minimizing energy consumption.
Interior spaces are organized around a central atrium that serves as the building's social heart, promoting collaboration and connection between different departments. The use of exposed timber throughout the interior creates a warm, biophilic environment that enhances worker wellbeing while showcasing the beauty and versatility of Arauco's products. The project sets new standards for sustainable corporate architecture in Latin America.
